What is hypnotherapy?

Mention hypnosis and the majority of people visualise a stage hypnotist making people do funny things for the entertainment of the audience. It's often amusing, but it's not helpful.

Hypnotherapy, on the other hand, is a powerful therapeutic technique that can help you to overcome deep-rooted personal issues.

There's no stage trickery, hocus pocus or illusion. In a hypnotherapy session, you are always in complete control. You can choose to come out of hypnosis at any point, should you wish to.

How can hypnotherapy help you?

Hypnosis helps you reach a very relaxed state of consciousness. Think of it as a daydream-like trance. While you're in this state of relaxation, your subconscious mind is more easily accessible and receptive to suggestion.

Your hypnotherapist can make helpful, therapeutic suggestions and enable you to explore and resolve your issues. With your hypnotherapist as your guide, you can explore the underlying reason for the behaviour you're unhappy with.

And once you've got to the bottom of it, it's so much easier to reprogramme your thinking. And that old habit or phobia will no longer control your life!

How do our minds work?

Our minds are made up of two parts: the conscious and subconscious.

Our conscious mind is the rational part we use every day in our waking hours. To protect us from overload, it only deals with a limited amount of information at any one time.

Our subconscious mind, on the other hand, can retain massive amounts of information and can be completely irrational.

Every single thing we've ever learned, things we may not even be aware of in our everyday lives like feelings, thoughts, behaviours, memories and urges, are all stored in our subconscious.

Conflicts happen when our subconscious makes us behave in a way our conscious mind doesn't understand. This sometimes leads to us developing problems like smoking, overeating, phobias, anxiety, stress or inability to sleep.

  • Initial session £30
  • One-hour session: £60
  • Discounts and concessions are available.

  • We’ll agree the course fees at your initial consultation and they’ll be stated in the working contract I’ll give you before we commence. Fees are payable in advance, or on the day of each session by cash or bank transfer.


    Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice are charged at full session rate.
